4 IKEA products I have at home and really love.

My blog has moved! :) Here is the link to this article on my new website.

Today about 4 Ikea products, that I have at home and truly love. Of course, we have more Ikea items at home, like the Platsa storage system, Ivar cupboards and shelf units (kid’s room and kitchen), several stools, our black Kungsbacka kitchen, Soderhamn couch, kitchen accessories, etc. They serve their purposes well and are ok, but I didn’t develop warm feelings for them :)) The other 4 which will be mentioned below I really love.

So here they are:

1. IKEA DIHULT floor cushion.

*Photos are from our old apartment in Munich, we just moved in and the DIHULT cushion was one of the first pieces to buy :)

I have had it at home for nearly 7 years and it’s our life-saver and all-rounder in the kid’s room!

We sit, play, and sleep on it (both the kid and us, adults) and after all these years it still looks good and holds its shape.

DIHULT cushions are no longer available on the Ikea website, but you can still find one in perfect condition at eBay Kleinanzeigen or other marketplaces.

The cover is removable and washable (tried it many times, and everything is ok).

Another thing I love about DIHULT is its sleek design and neutral color scheme (light grey + dark grey handle) - though the cushion is huge (Length: 135 cm / Width: 116 cm / Height: 20 cm), when you place it into the room it somehow doesn’t “eat“ too much space, it does look like a big (and very comfortable) cloud on a floor and blends into any (to my mind) kid’s room interior style.

Also, I saw a lot of “hacks” over the internet when people create/buy custom covers for these floor cushions.

2. IKEA LOHALS jute rug. Currently available on Ikea website - Lohals for 89.99.

Ours is rectangular and 200x300cm, but they are available in smaller sizes and circle shapes.

This rug is a real bargain, considering its size and it looks good and feels good under your feet! It adds warmth to any minimalist space, and what’s maybe even more important - it adds rich texture to the space. Why I say that it’s important - minimalist spaces often lack the variety of textures and therefore look flat and sometimes a bit dull.

LOHALS rug was even featured not so long ago on the Architectural Digest Germany website (read here)!

3. Ikea HOVET floor mirror.

I was looking for an XL-size floor mirror with a frame that would be almost invisible to fit into my “warm minimalist” interior. I’ll write later the overview of all options I explored, but long story short - I found the perfect mirror in Ikea.

Currently available on the Ikea website - Hovet for 129.99. The size is just perfect for our 3.40m ceilings - almost 2 meters high (78x196cm) and the aluminium frame perfectly blends in against the white wall. Also available in black.

4. Vintage (the 70s) Ikea NATURA safari chair by Karin Mobring.

I was hunting for it for more than a year and finally managed to find it on eBay Kleinanzeigen at a reasonable price!

I do believe this vintage Ikea leather chair is a great and affordable alternative to some much more expensive vintage leather icons. And if you like this chair, have a look also at the vintage DIANA safari chair by Karin Mobring for Ikea (also the 70s). They both complement soft/warm minimalist, Nordic and Scandinavian, “Japandi“ interiors perfectly!

P.S. Also FENOMEN candles are worth to be mentioned - they are available in different sizes and are absolutely great for fireplace mantel decoration, as well as for windowsills and sideboards, and simple table styling.

Here are the links to different sizes: smaller and bigger candles.

What else:

Layered, Soft, Warm, Relaxed, Livable, Habitable… + Minimalism. Habitable Minimalism - so what is it exactly?

Going out: outdoor lounge chairs for my (or your) garden or terrace.
